Abigail Lundin, MS, RD

President

Abigail has been working at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland for over 10 years in both inpatient and outpatient settings. She works in a clinical role, specializing in pediatric GI, including IBD and feeding disorders.  She has been a member of CPNP since its first year and hasn't missed an Annual Conference for  a decade! She served as the CPNP Media Chair prior to becoming President-Elect and now President. Her goal for CPNP is to increase its membership and member engagement.


Nicole Martin, RD, CSP, CD

President-Elect

Nicole has been practicing as a pediatric dietitian for over 8 years at Children’s Wisconsin, and her areas of interest include Celiac disease, eosinophilic disorders, and food allergies. She has been involved with CPNP since 2016 and previously served as the CPNP Media Chair.

 

 


Venus S. Kalami, MNSP, RD, CSP

Venus [ven-oos] is a board-certified pediatric dietitian nutritionist and advocate-at-heart for culturally, socioeconomically, and weight-inclusive nutrition. With training from Tufts, Stanford, and FARE, she subspecializes in empowering children of all ages with digestive and allergic conditions to live the fullest lives, by building positive relationships with food and their bodies. Through her passion for food, psychology, and cultural humility, her unique and individualized perspective on nutrition has been featured on media outlets such as CBS KPIX-5, Good Morning America, VeryWell Health, Motherly, Health Talks, Insider, The Conversation, and Health Professional Radio, as well as professional conferences.


Brock Williams, PhD RD CNSC

Research Chair

Brock is a Registered Dietitian, Sessional Lecturer and Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of British Columbia (Vancouver, Canada). Over the past 10 years, he has worked as both a clinical and research dietitian at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids; Toronto), and at BC Children's Hospital in areas such as Translational Medicine, Gastroenterology/Hepatology/Nutrition, and Allergy. His major clinical and research interests lie in micronutrients and childhood feeding (human milk feeding, complementary feeding and the prevention and treatment of food allergy). In the role of Research Chair, Brock hopes to support professional development opportunities in research for CPNP members.


 

 

Megan Murphy, RD

Clinical Practice Chair

Megan works at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland. She’s been a dietitian for over 13 years, and has worked in both adult and pediatric care, in hospitals, clinics and various community settings. She holds a Certificate of Training in Pediatric Food Allergy, and currently works exclusively in GI clinics, covering everything from General GIto Celiac, EOE/food allergies, IBD, and liver disease patients.


Katherine Bennett, MPH, RD, CLEC

Communications Chair

Katherine has been practicing as a registered dietitian since 2003 and is currently working with the Gastroenterology aand Nutrition Divisiion at CHOC Children's Hospital in Orange, California. She provides medical nutrition therapy for a wide range of GI conditions, but specializes in blenderized tube feedings and parenteral nutrition support for intestinal failure. Katherine also teaches beginning and advanced level nutrition classes at California State University Long Beach.


Nikki Misner, MS, RDN

Media Chair

Nikki works at an outpatient dietitian at USF Health Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition. She has been practicing as a registered dietitian specializing in gastroenterology for 3 years and works with children with a wide variety of GI conditions. Nikki has taken a special interest in diet therapy for eosinophilic esophagitis, addressiing food insecurity and managing enteral nutrition. Nikki served on the plananing committee for the 2022 CPNP Nutrition Symposium and has contributed the CPNP newsletter.


Tegan Medico, MS, MPH, RDN, CNSC

Program Chair

Tegan Medico received her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition/Dietetics from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and completed her graduate dual degree program and dietetic internship at the University of Tennessee, where she earned a Master of Science in Nutrition and a Master of Public Health in Health Planning and Administration. Tegan joined the team at the University of Virginia Health in 2013 as a dietitian in pediatrics. She has worked in a variety of roles: intensive care, gastroenterology, nephrology, transplant, and home health. She now serves the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, the Pediatric Liver Transplant program, and is coordinator for an elective in pediatric nutrition for UVA’s School of Medicine. Additionally, she has held adjunct instructor positions at Piedmont Valley Community College and the University of Virginia. Tegan has given talks on a variety of topics at the local, national, and international levels; has co-written a book, A Kid’s Guide to Short Bowel Syndrome; and currently is co-editor for Building Blocks for Life publication of the Pediatric Nutrition Practice Group. Tegan is the 2019 recipient of Compass Group’s Clinician of the Year Award.


Carmyn Thompson, RD, CSP, LDN

Past-President

Carmyn Thompson has been practicing for over 15 years as a pediatric dietitian in Chicago. Carmyn’s areas of expertise include Gastroenterology, Short Gut Syndrome, ICU, CCU and NICU.
