In honor of Black History month, NASPGHAN Celebrates Dr. Conrad Cole MD, MPH, MSc
Dr. Conrad Cole, a leader in the field of pediatric gastroenterology, is the Director of the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at the University of Florida, College of Medicine. As a Black physician, Dr. Cole exemplifies the dedication and resilience that define leaders in academic medicine, especially as he works tirelessly to improve the outcomes of children with intestinal failure and enhance the nutritional status of children from low-income communities.
Before joining the University of Florida, Dr. Cole made significant contributions at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital as the inaugural fellowship director of the Pediatric Advanced Nutrition Fellowship and the medical director for the Intestinal Failure Center. He was also the interim Division Director, further cementing his reputation as a trailblazer in pediatric care.
Beyond his clinical expertise, Dr. Cole is a strong advocate for equity and inclusion in healthcare. He demonstrates this through his leadership in organizations like the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and NASPGHAN. He also championed the NASPGHAN Summer Research Program, creating opportunities for medical students from diverse backgrounds.
An active clinical researcher, Dr. Cole has co-authored over 80 publications and has been invited to speak at national and international medical forums, sharing his knowledge and inspiring future generations of healthcare professionals.
