About Us

The mission of the Council for Pediatric Nutrition Professionals (CPNP) is to advance the knowledge of nutrition professionals in normal and abnormal nutrition, to promote the professional development and recognition of nutrition professionals as experts in their respective pediatric specialties, to promote excellence in the nutrition care of children and to foster collaboration amongst pediatric nutrition professionals in order to develop and standardize best practice.

The Council membership consists of professionals who specialize in the nutrition care and treatment of children and adolescents.

CPNP Dietitian of Excellence Award

The CPNP Dietitian of Excellence Award recognizes a Registered Dietitian that has made an outstanding contribution to the field of dietetics. Nominees will be evaluated on design and implementation of a new method, process, approach, or application that solves a problem in nutrition; research; teaching; public dissemination of education; publication; and overall impact of nominee's contributions. Nominees may also be considered for providing professionally-relevant cultural, educational, humanitarian, environmental, ethical, or conservation contributions to their community. This award is presented at the NASPGHAN Annual Meeting.

Eligibility

Only CPNP Registered Dietitians in good standing are eligible for this award. Nominees should not be members of the conference planning, executive or awards committees at the time of recognition.

Submission Requirements

The nomination letter should be limited to 500 words. The nominee may solicit a letter or a nomination may be completed without the nominee's knowledge. The letter should speak to the selection criteria, including a clear statement about the nominee's achievements in relation to at least one of the criteria above and why he/she is being recommended. Membership

NASPGHAN's Council for Pediatric Nutrition Professionals is dedicated to advancing nutrition care and practice in pediatrics. The optimal way to advance your career is to become an active member of NASPGHAN's Council for Pediatric Nutrition Professionals.

Full membership shall be extended to any professional with a focused interest and active involvement in pediatric nutrition in North America: Registered Dietitians; and Dietetic Technicians, Registered. Full membership carries the privilege to vote in elections of the Council; submit nominations to office on the Executive Committee; and serve on any committee.

Full membership also permits reduced fees for the annual conference; consideration for scholarship funding; receipt of newsletters and membership directory; subscription to the Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition and listing in the membership directory.

Dietetic students, Nurses, Advanced Practice Practitioners, Physicians, Fellows, Commercial company representatives, international applicants, Physician's Assistants, or any person engaged or enrolled in activities relevant to the practice of pediatric nutrition, or who works in the field of pediatric nutrition who does not meet criteria for full membership may apply for Associate Membership.
