NASPGHAN Members Inspire Future Physicians

Last week, during the Annual Meeting, members of the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Committee – award recipients of NASPGHAN’s Nutrition and Child Health Equity awards program – organized a special outreach event at a Chicago middle school as part of our commitment to growing the pipeline of pediatric GI while broadening knowledge and awareness of nutrition.

Nine representatives from NASPGHAN and CPNP, along with two colleagues from EvoEndo, met with 35 enthusiastic students to share what it’s like to be a pediatric gastroenterologist and to explore the many paths available in medicine and science.

Through interactive discussion, students learned about the digestive system, endoscopy, and the teamwork that goes into caring for children with GI conditions. The session offered an inspiring look into pediatric healthcare and encouraged students from all backgrounds to consider careers in medicine.

This community event highlights NASPGHAN’s ongoing commitment to education, mentorship, and diversity in the next generation of healthcare professionals!
