Water Beads Safety Standard

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission has released a new safety standard consistent with NASPGHAN Advocacy priorities for water bead toys, aimed at preventing intestinal blockages when H2O beads are ingested. Ingested water beads will not appear in X-rays, requiring vigilance when ingestion is suspected.

Preventing hazardous foreign body ingestions is a top NASPGHAN priority and we applaud the CPSC for their commitment to preventing unnecessary tragedies.
